Youth football camp, league registration open

Registration for Three Rivers Youth Football (fifth- and sixth-graders) and for Aspen High head coach Mike Sirko's youth football camp is underway.

Sirko's camp runs from 9 a.m.-noon on Aug. 2-4 for all players entering the second through eighth grades in the fall. The three-day camp costs $75.

Registration forms for both the camp and for Three Rivers Youth Football are currently available at the new store “More for Less”, next to Cafe Ink on Durant Avenue, and at Alpine Bank.

Bears Football Camp is Aug. 9-12

Rifle High School is hosting Bears Football Camp on Aug. 9-12.

First- through sixth-graders go from 5-6:30 p.m. each day, while the seventh- through 12th-graders are slated for 6:30-8 p.m.

Registration, which costs $20, is Aug. 9 at 4:15 p.m.

Basalt Half Marathon returns on Aug. 14

The 34th running of the Basalt Half Marathon will take place at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14.

Those interested can pre-register online at www.active.com, or on the day of the race from 6:15-7 a.m. at Basalt Middle School. Participants will meet at the school, then be taken by bus to the start line at the base of Ruedi Dam.

The event is a fundraiser for the Basalt High School cross country team.

Glenwood Springs Soccer Club holding two more summer camps

The Glenwood Springs Soccer Club has two more summer camps available to kids in the valley: an Aug. 4-6 National Soccer Academy camp and an Aug. 9-12 United Soccer Coaches camp. Both camps will be held at the Glenwood Park soccer field and the cost is $110 per session.

GSSC registration is underway

Glenwood Springs Soccer Club is currently accepting registrations for U14 boys teams (seventh- and eighth-graders) and U10 boys (third- and fourth-graders). Register now as limited roster spots are available.

Open registration continues for U7 and U8 boys/girls (first- and second-graders). Register before Aug. 15. Register for U6 boys/girls (pre-school through kindergarten) before Sept. 9.

The club will also hold two informational meetings for current and prospective coaches from 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 12 and Aug. 19. Both meetings are at the Glenwood Park soccer field.

Demon Doubles volleyball tournament is Aug. 28

The first annual Demon Doubles volleyball tournament/car wash is scheduled for Aug. 28 at Glenwood Springs High School.

The cost is $40 per team if registered by Aug. 25 or $50 if you register on the day of the tournament.

Divisions options include co-ed A, BB and B.

Roaring Fork fall practice info

Fall sports practices at Roaring Fork High School begin on Aug. 9.

The golf team kicks off practice on Aug. 9. There will be an informational meeting Aug. 5 at 5 p.m. at Roaring Fork.

Volleyball practice begins Aug. 16 and goes from 7-9 a.m. in the morning and from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the evening.

Football also begins Aug. 16. The morning session goes from 7-9 a.m. and the afternoon session runs from 5-8 p.m.

Athletes must have a physical on file with the athletic director before being allowed to practice.

To register for fall athletics, go to www.rfsd.k12.co.us. Go to the athletic registration form, which includes the following information: insurance, acknowledgment of the athletic handbook and emergency contact information. This must be completed before practicing.
