Grassroots Community TV set to kick off local coverage
Beginning this Labor Day weekend, GrassRoots Community TV, the nation's first community television station, kicks off its local high school sports coverage by shooting and re-broadcasting the first two football games of the season.The long rivalry between Glenwood Springs and Basalt takes to the field this Friday and will air on channel 12 from Aspen to Carbondale (Ranch at Roaring Fork) and on channel 82 from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Aspen's game against Moffat High School on Friday will be seen on channels 12 and 82 on Saturday at 9 p.m.
In addition, viewers can access the games video-on-demand on GrassRoots TV Video Now, starting Saturday at 4 p.m. by visiting www.grassrootstv.org.
Sponsors and volunteer announcers, both play-by-play and color, who are interested in supporting the upcoming Glenwood Springs, Roaring Fork and Basalt high school varsity football games, can call 925-8000.
Labor Day Tournament at Rifle Creek Golf Course
Rifle Creek Golf Course is hosting its annual Labor Day Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4-5. The entry fee is $125, plus carts. There will be gross and net payoffs.Also part of the weekend's festivities are a Friday pro-am and an event dubbed “Special Events Friday Night.” The latter begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in Columbine Restaurant.
