St. Mary Catholic Church concert series
The first performance of St. Mary Catholic Churchs 2006 Mid-Winter Arts Festival will be Carla Ramsey, pianist, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8. She will perform the works of Bach, Mozart, Brahms and Ginastera.
Ramsey holds a B.A. in Music from the University of Chicago, an M.A. in Music Education from Harvard University, and an M.A. in the Philosophy of Religion from Denver Seminary.
This festival encourages audience interaction with the performers as a way to personalize the artistic experience for everyone involved.
Proceeds from this concert will benefit Feed My Sheep Ministry, which provides help to the homeless in Glenwood Springs.

County Landfill closure
The West Garfield County Landfill will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, and will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Library closures
All Garfield County libraries will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 31, for the New Years holiday. In addition, all libraries will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 4, in order to replace a system server. Book drops will be available, as usual, during these closures.
Roaring Fork Conservancy activities
To ring in the New Year and begin celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Roaring Fork Conservancy is launching a series of Watershed Exploration activities, and asks the public to please join in the first event, moonlight snowshoeing from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 12 at Emma Open Space.Join Kelly Wood of the Colorado Division of Wildlife and staff from the Roaring Fork Conservancy and explore 73 acres of open space by moonlight on snowshoes. Bring your own snowshoes or use a pair provided by the Roaring Fork Club. Meet at the Emma Schoolhouse parking lot.
