I spoke too soon.
And, in this columnist's case, I wrote too soon.
In last week's "Steppin' Out," I predicted the Indianapolis Colts would play the Denver Broncos in Sunday's AFC Championship.
No, I won't be running the fortune-telling biz out of the back of my Jeep.
Yes, I've learned my lesson about calling football games and bragging about my team's prowess.
If I really knew how to walk the walk of a psychic, I would have won the PowerBall years ago.
If so, I would be steppin' out barefoot on a beach in the Caribbean with a rum drink to forget about last week's game. But last time I checked my bank account, I feel pretty confident the Virgin Islands are not in my future.
I could get lucky enough to hit Winter Park this weekend, but if I'm staying around Glenwood, there is plenty to do. There are art exhibits, a drumming workshop, a benefit concert, karaoke, skiing, a couple football games to watch on Sunday - just to name a few. So there's no reason to say there's nothing to do around here.
I just wish it were my team on the bubble to go to the Super Bowl.

It's happening in Glenwood Springs to boot: The Dags, Cowboy Attitude, Powderhounds, Cole Campbell and The Big Rig will "rock with a reason" during a benefit concert for the Bryan Baker at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Buffalo Valley Inn. Cost: $20 per person at the door, additional donations welcome
This is why I'd kick it up here: I love it when bands pull together and play at one venue in one night. Such shows remind me of the Monsters of Rock tour that was as big as my permed hair during my high school days in Indiana. Saturday's concert will certainly be no head-bangin' ball with Great White, Queensryche or Anthrax - and I doubt if black concert T-shirts will be sold for $45 - but it should be a rockin' time. And it's for a good cause, as proceeds benefit the Bryan Baker Foundation to set up a college fund for a little guy whose mom died in a car accident in December. He'll be the guest of honor, so head to Buffalo Valley to meet him and his musical buddies Saturday night. Thank you, and good night.
