Operation Vacation is a program that brings to the Roaring Fork Valley military personnel who have fought overseas. Bob Johnson, a realtor for Vicki Lee Green Realtors, in Glenwood Springs, coordinated with the Army to create the program that hosts soldiers in Glenwood every month. More than 20 businesses have donated dinners, entertainment, outdoor activities, lodging and transportation for Operation Vacation participants.

<B>How long have you been in the Army, and why did you join?</B> 10 years and two months. I joined because originally I wanted to get out of Iowa, but I also enjoy the military.

<B>Where have you been deployed?</B> Bosnia, Kuwait and Iraq, twice

<B>When you were being deployed, what did you miss most about home?</B> My family and this one here (hugging his wife, Shana)

<B>Where is the most memorable place you’ve visited in the world?</B> This trip has been pretty memorable.

<B>What did you want to be when you grew up?</B> As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be in the military. I signed my first contract before my senior year in high school.

<B>What do you like to do in your free time?</B> I like to do stuff with my family — usually our time together involves homework, the everyday routine

<B>What are you looking forward to doing while in Glenwood Springs?</B> I know she (Shana) is looking forward to the spa. For me, the paragliding.
