Operation Vacation is a program that brings to the Roaring Fork Valley military personnel who have fought overseas. Bob Johnson, a realtor with Vicki Lee Green Realtors in Glenwood Springs, coordinated with the Army to create the program that hosts soldiers and their families. Local businesses have donated dinners, entertainment, outdoor activities, lodging and transportation for Operation Vacation participants. For more information about the program, visit

<B>When and why did you join the Army?</B> October 2002. I'd just graduated college. 9/11 happened while I was in college and I wanted to defend my country.
<B>Where have you been deployed?</B> Iraq
<B>When you were being deployed, what did you miss most about home?</B> The first time I was deployed it was just Julie and me, so I missed her and doing what I wanted to do. Now with Lance, I miss both of them a lot.
<B>What's your favorite food?</B>Mexican
<B>What do you like to do in your free time?</B> Spend time with my family, work out, hike, play video games.
<B>What historical figure do you most admire?</B> I just read "Gates of Fire," so I guess the Spartans, their whole ideology that they'll fight to secure their freedom. It hits close to home, what we're doing.
<B>What are you looking forward to doing while in Glenwood Springs?</B> The hot springs, hiking, a spa massage, the tram.
