Two local families to be recognized at MS Dinner of Champs

The seventh annual Multiple Sclerosis Dinner of Champions is coming up Thursday, April 26, at the DoubleTree Hotel, 743 Horizon Drive. Reception begins at 6:30 p.m.

Bud and Peggy Himes are set to receive the prestigious Hope Award in recognition of their outstanding commitment and service to people of the Grand Valley community.

A committee comprised of leaders throughout the community chose Bud and Peggy Himes to receive this award. Past recipients include Joe Prinster and Teo Prinster in 2001, Gene Taylor in 2002, Pat Bishop in 2003, Doug and Jamee Simons in 2004, Bernie and Mary Beth Buescher in 2005 and Joe Higgins in 2006.

The Jeffryes family of Kannah Creek Brewery are set to receive the MS Champion Award in recognition of their family's commitment to demonstrating optimism and encouragement for those living with multiple sclerosis.

Leadership for this event include chairwoman Sue Saelens, Kathy Abshire, Herb Bacon, Amy Dyer, Katie Himes, Maurine Himes, Tammy Himes, Nancy Kissner, Connie Mattas, Maggie Milligan, Clare Rasmussen and Gene Taylor.

Proceeds from this event will go to provide programs and services to the people and their families living with MS on the Western Slope of Colorado.
