Median Prices Higher than National Average

Print Comment

Everyone continues to wonder how much longer home prices in Garfield County will continue to increase. The median price for a single family home (1/2 sold for more, ? sold for less) nationwide for the 2nd quarter of 2007 was $223,800.00 (per the National Association of Realtors). With the exception of one area in Garfield County, the median prices are higher than the national average. This is not a surprise. The quality of life, recreation and strong economy in the valley continue to bring people here to live. Will we continue to see this trend? Or, might we see prices slide with more inventory coming on the market?

Median home prices through August of 2007:

Parachute - $$227,500

Battlement Mesa - $204,700

Rifle - $268,000

Silt - $312,000

New Castle - $300,000

Glenwood Springs - $370,500

Carbondale - $565,000
