What is winter if not cold and darkness - punctuated by the bright burst of 200,000 lights?
Or so asks the management at Hotel Colorado, which is prepping for the highlight of its holiday season, the annual Pageant of Lights.
According to general manager Larry MacDonald, hundreds of thousands of lights will illuminate the interior and exterior of the building from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, with festivities starting at 6 p.m. Theme decorations, depicting Jesus' birth, the Polar Express story and other seasonal images will adorn the grounds.
Holiday music, provided by national recording artist Brian Savage; area duet Michelle and Kelli, the Gabossi Sisters; and Jon Chandler will be on hand. More importantly to some, MacDonald said that Santa will rouse himself from hibernation for a public appearance.
In Baron's dining room, executive chef Ron Jackson will offer a holiday menu, with traditional fair such as Yorkshire pudding and oxtail soup, and unique items, such as pumpkin crème brûlée.
