It's a great idea. Donate at least one non-perishable food item to LIFT-UP and receive a coupon for a $25 lift ticket to Sunlight Mountain Resort. Donate a few more cans, and feel even better about your donation.
Full price for an adult life ticket is $48.
In past years, Sunlight has collected unwrapped gifts for needy children in exchange for a discounted lift ticket.
Marketing Manager for Sunlight Mountain Resort Dylan Lewis, in his first year at Sunlight, thought the ski area could help out a little more by collecting food, which those less fortunate could really use. He began conversations with LIFT-UP Executive Director Mike Powell and his marketing director, Doug Straw, to expand the program to offer a more impactful campaign.
Donate non-perishable food items at any LIFT-UP office until Dec. 16 and receive a coupon for a $25 lift ticket. The coupon may only be redeemed Dec. 16 at Sunlight Mountain Resort.
LIFT-UP offices are located at 800 Railroad Ave. in Rifle; 385 S. Second St. in Carbondale; 126 N. Fourth St. in New Castle; 121 N. Fisher Ave. in Parachute; and 1001 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs.
Skiers may also bring food items to Sunlight during the Winter Carnival Dec. 16, and guest services will be collecting the food items at the breezeway and outside the ticket office in exchange for a $25 lift ticket.
The Winter Carnival on Sunlight Mountain is an exciting event. Besides the LIFT-UP food drive, it includes a visit from Santa, gifts for the kids, a demo day and a Torch Light Parade.
"We're proud to work with LIFT-UP, and we're happy to help fill up their food banks and to help those less fortunate," said Lewis.
All donated food will be distributed locally to people in need from LIFT-UP's five area food pantries. People right here in Garfield County.
