Sunlight expects more snow

Print Comment
SUNLIGHT - Let it snow and keep snowing.

As of Friday afternoon 14 inches had fallen at Sunlight Mountain Resort in a 24-hour period, boosting its top-of-the-mountain total to 29 inches and mid-mountain base to 27.

Sunlight got nine inches as of Friday morning the snow continued to pile up and was still coming down after the mountain did its afternoon measurement.

"There will probably be more tonight," said Sunlight Guest Service Manager Rachel Galloway.

The weather forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of snow Friday night, with a possible accumulation of six to 10 additional inches. On Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation and on Sunday there is a 60-percent chance.

Two of the three lifts at Sunlight are running - Tercero and Primo - and 80 percent of the terrain is open. All of the beginner terrain is open, and 95 percent of the intermediate, and 10 percent of the advanced or expert terrain is open, according to Galloway.

As of Friday, the mountain will now be open seven days a week. Adult lift tickets are $48 for a full day at the mountain.
