A Grand Holiday will take place from 4-8 p.m. today at Centennial Park at the corner of Grand Avenue and Ninth Street in downtown Glenwood Springs.
Enjoy the magic of a small-town Christmas celebration with lighting displays, holiday decorations, caroling, Santa and his reindeer, refreshments and holiday shopping. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Business Association, Garfield County and the city of Glenwood Springs.
Santa will make a pre-Christmas appearance at the event, bringing three of his reindeer with him. Kids will enjoy free reindeer cart rides and the opportunity to visit with Santa.
Homemade soups and chili will be available for purchase. Glenwood Springs High School cheerleaders will be popping and selling popcorn, and roasting marshmallows for s'mores. The s'mores will be sold for $1 each as a fundraiser for the cheerleaders.
Several city council members will be on hand to help out at the Grand Holiday. The Mountain Harmony carolers, Mountain Sounds Barbershop Quartet, Craig and Lorraine Curry and the middle school/high school choir will sing in the park before their traditional stroll through downtown, entertaining shoppers and diners. Sunlight Ski & Bike Shop, Confetti Design and the merchants in the King Mall, to name a few, will be offering sales, refreshments, wine and live music.
