GLENWOOD SPRINGS - For those wanting to get rid of used Christmas trees, look no farther than the end of Airport Road in Glenwood Springs.
Used Christmas trees will be collected at the same site used for leaf recycling in the fall. There are two large, green Waste Management containers where trees can be dumped. Waste Management will take the trees to Cacaloco at the South Canyon Landfill for composting.
City of Glenwood Springs Parks department superintendent Al Laurette said the trees need to be void of all foreign objects. Streamers, tinsel, glitter, tree stands and anything else that will not compost needs to be removed before dumping.
There is no attendant at the site, so it's up to those dumping the trees to remove all decorations.
The tree recycling drop-off is open 24 hours a day through January and there is no charge for dumping the trees.
