PARACHUTE — A postal worker was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing prescription drugs from the mail.
The Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team arrested Leta May McDaniel, 38, on suspicion of two counts of possession of a schedule-two controlled substance. TRIDENT is an interagency drug task force headed by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
TRIDENT said in a news release Thursday evening that the Office of the Inspector General participated in an investigation. Authorities believe McDaniel, a rural route carrier for the Postal Service, was stealing Vicodin and Methadone from mail heading to the Parachute and Battlement Mesa areas. No further information was immediately available.
