Man dies in Highway 82 accident south of Glenwood Springs

GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Snow played a part in a fatal rollover crash on Highway 82 Friday night.
A passenger, Ramon Hermosillo Nieto, 73, of Gypsum, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was treated and released at the Valley View Hospital, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Around 5:30 p.m. just south of Glenwood Springs, a red 2000 Toyota Tacoma heading north lost control and drove off the road. It traveled up a steep embankment and rolled, eventually stopping on its passenger side and facing east on the highway. The driver of a white 1997 Ford Windstar van tried to stop but slid into the roof of the overturned truck, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The CSP said the road was snowpacked, and it was snowing heavily at the time, and that the crash was caused by driving too fast for the conditions. Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, and neither drugs nor alcohol were factors.
