Some call it “Super Tuesday,” and others call it “Tsunami Tuesday” — but whatever the name, both Republican and Democrat voters in Garfield County are encouraged to attend their party’s precinct caucus Tuesday night. During the precinct caucus in an election, the parties nominate candidates, write platforms and organize efforts to get out their vote on Election Day. The caucuses are held only by the Democratic and Republican parties. At the caucus, delegates will be elected to attend the county convention/assemblies and then on to the state convention/assemblies. You must be a registered Democrat or Republican voter to participate in the precinct caucus. To find what precinct you are in, go to the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.co.us/Voter/voterHome.do.
