2007 sees increase in resort county median residential prices

GARFIELD COUNTY — While the median residential price has pulled back in every part of the nation, with the exception of a slight increase in the Northeast, Garfield County saw double digit increases in 2007. The median price of a single family home sold in Garfield County in 2007 was $394,950 a 14.64 percent increase from the median price of $344, 500 reported for the same period in 2006. Overall, the U.S. median home price was $207,800 in 2007 compared to $218,900 in 2006, representing a 5.07 percent decline.
Locally, in the mountain resort communities, Eagle County had the highest increase posting a 32.03 percent increase year over year jumping to a median price of $810,000 from $613,000 in 2006. While Pitkin County had the highest median price in 2007 of $3,700,000, it is only a gain of 5.71 percent from the previous year of $3,500,000.
