Semi rolls in the Glenwood Canyon, shutting down I-70 on Friday night

GLENWOOD CANYON — Eastbound Interstate 70 in the Glenwood Canyon was closed Friday night due to an overturned semi-tractor trailer at mile marker 129.
The Colorado State Patrol determined that the truck was traveling eastbound in the left lane, passing a passenger car and was attempting to return to the right-hand lane when its load shifted. The semi-tractor rolled onto its right side and traveled another 500 feet, blocking both eastbound lanes, which were closed for about three hours.
The driver, Christian S. Erdet, 25, of Portland, Ore., was not injured. He was charged with careless driving and disregarding a traffic control device. Commercial vehicles are not allowed to pass in Glenwood Canyon, according to the CPS.
Speed is considered to be the main factor in the crash. The truck was hauling scrap metal, which did not spill out of the trailer.
