33 percent drop in Garfield County to start 2008

GARFIELD COUNTY — Real estate transactions started 2008 with downward pressure from the record year in 2007, which saw double digit increases in both total dollar volume and number of transactions. For January 2008 Garfield County saw a 33.44 percent decrease from last year in dollar volume at $69,205,900 compared to $92,346,900 recorded in January 2007. Compared to 2006, dollar volume was up 23 percent.

Total units sold, 169, were down 28.69 percent decrease over January 2007 with 237 units for the month. Compared to 2006, unit volume was up 6. 5 percent.

Carbondale posted the largest portion in both dollar volume and units sold with 60 sales representing 35.50 percent of the units sold and 43.20 percent of the total dollar volume at $29,896,500.
