Sip, chat, and play
Sip, Chat and Play has a new time (still free and still at the Glenwood Springs Community Center). The offering for seniors is now from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.

Sip, Chat and Play is a laid back, coffee, snacks, games, and friends program.

Spellbinders workshop
Spellbinders, a national volunteer storytelling group, will be hosting a workshop training for new volunteers March 10. Spellbinders volunteers tell stories to children in Valley classrooms. All three sessions need to be attended.

Pruning workshops
The town of Carbondale Tree Board is sponsoring two pruning workshops — a fruit tree pruning workshop March 8, and a tree and shrub pruning workshop March 22. Both workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the campus of the Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale.

Certified arborist Jason Jones of Aspen Tree Service will share his knowledge of proper pruning techniques, tool selection and in-the-field demonstrations.

Bring your questions. Refreshments served. All are welcome. Snow or shine.
Directions: In Carbondale, take Highway 133 south, west on Main Street to County Road 106. Look for signs at the CRMS campus.

Ducks Unlimited
The Rifle Area Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is holding its annual fundraising banquet and auction at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center.

Free nutrition program
A three-week nutrition program will be held March 19, 26 and April 2 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Topics to be covered include the new food guide pyramid, reading food labels, creating healthy snacks, nutrient information and a cooking demonstration and taste testing.

Marching Mountaineers Walking Club
A four-month walking program for seniors will be offered from noon - 1 p.m. Wednesdays. The program started March 5 and will continue through July 2 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. There is a nominal one-time fee.

Volunteers needed for Mother’s Day Mile
Volunteers are needed to help on the gift basket auction committee for the Mother’s Day Mile, to be held Sunday, May 11, to benefit the domestic violence programs of the Advocate Safehouse Project. First meeting will be held in mid-February.

Carbondale Rec transportation
The Carbondale Recreation Department will provide transportation around Carbondale and Glenwood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12.

Carbondale Rec gambling trip
The Carbondale Recreation Department will be heading up their annual gambling trip to the Oasis Resort in Mesquite, Nevada, Tuesday-Thursday, April 24-26. Any adult 40 and up can register at Carbondale Town Hall. The registration deadline is Friday, March 14. For more information, call 704-4115.

Free income tax assistance
For the 18th consecutive year, High Country RSVP will sponsor free VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) consultations for basic federal and state tax returns.

This service is provided at no charge for low to moderate income clients, seniors, and disabled individuals from Aspen to Parachute/Battlement Mesa.

All locations will be happy to arrange an appointment with you. Call 384-8740 and leave your name, address, telephone number, and the location where you would like your taxes prepared. Services are offered in Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Spring Valley, Rifle, and Parachute/Battlement Mesa. A volunteer will return your call and schedule an appointment to take care of your tax filing needs.
