Coal Ridge students chosen for Honor Choral
Coal Ridge High School students were accepted to attend the 2008 Adams State Honor Choral Group in Alamosa February 14-16. Each student had to audition to be accepted. Ben Williams, Tyler Reece, Leanna Harju, Kalli Fox and Bryana Starbuck made it into the festival

Kindergarten information
Crystal River Elementary School’s Kindergarten Information Night will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8. Child care will be provided.

Tours to observe kindergarten classes are also available. To schedule a tour or for more information, please call 384-5620.

Post Independent scholarships
The Glenwood Springs Post Independent, in coordination with the Glenwood Springs Noon Rotary Club, is offering scholarships to Garfield County graduating seniors pursuing a journalism-related degree.

Requirements include two recommendations from a combination of teachers, employers (current or former), and/or adult family friends, ministers, etc.; and a 500-word essay on why you want to pursue a career in journalism.

Completed packet of information deadline is March 31. The application must be returned to Andrea Porter, publisher, at the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, 2014 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.

Hospital Auxiliary scholarships deadlines
Valley View Hospital Auxiliary offers four scholarships in memory of Teeny Jeung, a longtime nurse at Valley View Hospital. Any local graduating high school senior who has been accepted into a health sciences program at a college or university is eligible to apply for these scholarships, which are due Friday, April 11.

VVHA has established a Health Sciences Scholarship for persons entering or continuing with studies in the medical field. Two scholarships will be awarded to students planning to pursue a career in the health sciences. Any person wishing to study or to continue studies in the medical field is eligible for this scholarship.

All completed applications are due Friday, April 11.

The Valley View Auxiliary sponsors four scholarships each year through CMC, which administers the qualifications and awards the scholarships to persons continuing their education in the nursing field. Only students accepted into the CMC Nursing Program are eligible for these scholarships.

For information regarding these scholarships, including applications and deadlines, please call the CMC Foundation at 947-8355.

EnCana scholarship
EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. encourages high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in engineering, geology or geophysics at a four-year university, to apply for its High School Scholarship Program. The scholarships can also be applied at a two-year college, including technical or trade schools related to the oil and gas industry, such as production technology, heavy equipment operator or land administration.

The scholarship award is awarded annually to one graduating student in each school district within EnCana’s areas of operations, including DeBeque, Dove Creek, Erie, Frederick, Fort Lupton, Grand Valley, Meeker, Norwood, Nucla, Rangely, Rifle and Weld Central high schools.

High school seniors who have demonstrated a solid academic record and community involvement and who plan on being a full-time student are eligible to apply. Individual school districts will review applications and select recipients. The application deadline is April 1.

The scholarship is awarded directly to the student and can be used for any college-related financial need including tuition and fees, textbooks and rent.
