The Grand River Hospital District announced Thursday that it will offer scholarships to students planning on a career in a medical field. Scholarships will be $1,000 and will be available for students planning to study in one of the many health care related fields, such as nursing, radiology, pathology, pre-med, or medical coding, to list a few.
Eligible applicants must live within the boundaries of GRHD and must intend to pursue a career in a medical field in the fall of 2008. This includes high school seniors, as well as individuals who have previously graduated from high school and GRHD employees.
These scholarships must be used in the fall of 2008 at any college, university, or technical school that offers the course work necessary for the chosen medical field. The money can be used for tuition, books, or other fees necessary for attendance at one of the aforementioned institutions. The awarded scholarship will be paid to the institution of choice, not the recipient of the scholarship.
Application deadline is April 15. Applicants must fill out a GRHD scholarship application, which is available online at
www.grhd.org, or from the Grand Valley, Coal Ridge or Rifle High School counseling offices, or from GRHD’s Public Relations Department.
Past recipients of GRHD scholarships are not eligible. For more information contact Kris Daler, director of public relations for GRHD at 625-6433.
