ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) — A Seattle law firm announced that it plans to sue the city over the contamination of its tap water that has sickened 276 people.

Marler Clark LLP said Wednesday it was mailing a notice of claim, the first step necessary in filing a lawsuit against a government. City Clerk Judy Egbert said she had not seen the notice and could not comment.

The case involves a child who had to be airlifted from San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center to Children’s Hospital in Aurora, where he was hospitalized four days. Lawyers say the boy is still recovering, but is out of the hospital.

City officials have been unable to trace the source of the contamination and are flushing the system with chlorine.
