GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — It’s time to cowboy up — at least for a night. Arguably the world’s most famous singing cowpokes, Riders in the Sky, will be galloping their way into Glenwood, where they will play a show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Church. This will be the final concert of the season for the Glenwood Springs Community Concert Association. Needless to say, tables will be set up in the lobby for ticket sales and renewals. Admission is free with purchase of membership for next season. For the five 2008-2009 concerts, prices start at only $15 for students, $35 for adults and $80 for families.
Next season’s schedule is as follows:
Oct. 28 — Barynya, a Russian folk dance and music ensemble Nov. 16 — Cherish the Ladies, traditional Celtic quintet Jan. 29 — The Generations Trio, cello, piano and violin ensemble March 20 — Spanish Brass, artistic brass quintet May 11 — Romanza, three tenors singing well-loved favorites
Still not convinced? Just think of all the tunes you’ll miss Tuesday, from Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, the Sons of the Pioneers and more. Riders in the Sky is one bonafide group, with 28 years experience, 5,200 shows and a few Grammys under their shiny belt buckles. And really, who doesn’t love a cowboy? For a full story on the group, check out Monday’s paper.
