Miriam “June” Lovitt, 82, of New Castle, passed away April 18, 2008, at Grace Health Care in Glenwood Springs.

She was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Percy and Glada (Runyon) Bagwell.

June’s family moved to Winslow, Ariz., when she was 6 years old.

June met James Lovitt at the age of 20, and they eloped nine days later. James and June moved to Denver for special schools for their two youngest children who are hearing-impaired. James and June retired and moved to New Castle in 1975. June had a special love for her grandsons and her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; son Vernon Ray (Rene) Lovitt of Rifle; daughters Ginger Gayle (Norm) Shroll of Glenwood Springs, and Kathy June Lovitt of New Castle; sister Maxine Foil of Showlow, Ariz.; grandsons Justine and Jesse Cacciatore, and Jeff and Brian Shroll; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. April 23, at the First Baptist Church of Garfield County in Silt.

The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Garfield County’s building fund.
