Steven Ray Bennett, 45, passed away April 14, 2008, unexpectedly at his home in Rifle.

Steve was born May 5, 1962 in Whittier, Calif., to Don and Joan (Piechota) Bennett.

He moved to Colorado about 15 years ago and worked for the city of Rifle Parks and Recreation Department until his death. He also played lead guitar for the local band, "Krossroadz."

Steve is survived by his parents; wife Patti Coryell; stepsons Lucas, Austin and Dylan Coryell; brothers Brian and Gary Bennett; sister Donna Simester; and a loving community of friends.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26th at the Rifle Senior Center located at 50 Ute Avenue in Rifle. There will be a potluck immediately after and a time for sharing, so please bring a dish and a story about Steve to share.
