SILT, Colorado - A burning shed that was ignited by unknown causes forced a lane of Main Street to close for about 45 minutes late Tuesday morning.
Burning Mountains Fire Protection District Capt. Orrin Moon said firefighters were called to the fire at 160 W. Main St. at 10:28 a.m.
"It's mostly all burned," Moon said. "More than half of the building was destroyed."
The fire was extinguished quickly within about 12 minutes, Moon said, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
The shed's footprint was about 10 by 16 feet. It was about 30 to 40 feet away from a house.
Someone across the street observed smoke and knocked on the door of the house to alert a tenant who reported the fire, Moon said.
About six firefighters responded. Silt police and Garfield County deputies also responded to the scene.
