RIFLE, Colorado - Want to learn more about the energy industry in Garfield County?

Find some of the answers at the sixth annual Energy Expo, which is presented by EnCana Oil & Gas (USA).

This year's event will have more than 90 exhibits and will go from noon to 6 p.m. today at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle. Industry representatives will be on hand to discuss several issues, including mineral and surface rights, oil shale technology, natural gas production and other issues, according to a statement announcing the expo.

"This event is so important to our industry because it brings all aspects of the natural gas development process together under one roof," Kathy Friesen, event director for the Energy Expo, said in the statement. "We encourage our neighbors and surrounding community members to take advantage of this unique event by coming out, asking questions and getting answers."

Williams Production RMT and EnCana will also show videos about the companies' "new technology and innovations."

Water-well expert Anthony Gorody of Universal Geoscience Consulting will also be at the energy expo and will be available to review "domestic water-well data." He is also scheduled to have a presentation at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Laboratory's "Renewable Energy Van" will also be at the energy expo. The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Education on Wheels is "a van designed to educate people of all ages about renewable energy and energy efficiency," according to another statement about the expo.

The van features hands-on activities, workstations and displays of geothermal, solar and alternative fuel uses.
