Registration opens for River Float

Registration will open May 1 for Roaring Fork Conservancy’s River Float 2008, to be held at 8 a.m. June 6, at Veltus/Kiwanis Park where participants will get a shuttle to the put-in at Carbondale. This free event is an opportunity to experience our valley from the Roaring Fork River’s perspective while learning about wildlife, water issues and conservation efforts. Intended for people of all abilities (age 8 and older). Experienced boaters can bring their own boat, or anyone can jump on rafts provided by Blazing Adventures and Rock Gardens Rafting.

After the float, everyone will be treated to a barbecue. Space is limited. You must register online at www.roaringfork.org/events by June 2. Donations are welcome.

For more information, please call Roaring Fork Conservancy at 927-1290.

Big bird watching

Roaring Fork Conservancy’s Heron, Eagle, and Osprey Watching watershed exploration will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 7. Join Jonathan Lowsky, wildlife biologist with Colorado Wildlife Science LLC, and staff from Roaring Fork Conservancy for this amazing look at big birds near the confluence of Cattle Creek and the Roaring Fork River. Please dress appropriately; the viewing will happen regardless of weather.

This event is free; however, space is limited, and reservations are required. Please visit www.roaringfork.org/events to register. Sponsored by Colorado Wildlife Science LLC, Aspen Glen Environmental Sanctuary, and Roaring Fork Conservancy.

For more information, call 970-927-1290.
