Fishing derby
The second annual free Mr. T’s Fishing Derby will be held this Saturday, May 10. Ages 2-9 are from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; and ages 10-15 are from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration is necessary to ensure a spot. Spaces are limited and there is no cost.

Red Hill Trails project
Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers will tackle high-priority maintenance on the three entryway trails to Carbondale’s popular Red Hill trail system on Saturday, May 10: Three Gulch, Blue Ribbon, and Mushroom Rock. Volunteers will create well-defined trails through the pinion and juniper forest, as well as improve drainage and rebuild eroded trail sections.

RFOV and their project partners, the USDI Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Red Hill Council will provide the tools, materials, leadership and some great rewards, including a dinner at the end of the day.

Squirrel Valley Clean-up
Join the BLM, Hi-Country 4-Wheelers, town of Silt and Waste Solutions, to clean up Silt Mesa BLM property from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10. Bring gloves, sack lunch and water.

Biking Emma Open Space
Explore the fields, wetlands, and riverfront of Emma Open Space by biking from 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 14. Meet at the Basalt Post Office and bring your bike and helmet for this unique look at wildlife, scenic views, and engaging conversation about wildlife and water issues. Colorado Division of Wildlife and Roaring Fork Conservancy will lead this free family friend bike tour.

Please dress appropriately; the event will happen rain or shine.

Spring bird count
The Roaring Fork Audubon group is hosting a field trip Saturday, May 10, to census more than 100 species of birds.
