Vases on display
Colorado Mountain College, 831 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs, will hold an artist’s reception from 5:30-7:30 tonight for “In Honor, In Memory...A Reminder of Individual Sacrifice and the Cost of War.” The show will features some of the more than a thousand memorial vases crafted by local artist Annette Roberts-Gray. Each piece bears the name of an American soldier killed in Iraq.

Artist’s Mercantile presents local painter
The Artist’s Mercantile is throwing an opening gala for featured Mark Lemon from 6-8 tonight. Lemon’s vivid landscape paintings are a depiction of Western life and history. His work will be up through June at the gallery, 720 Cooper Ave., Glenwood Springs.

Glenwood kids show their fine art chops
Glenwood Springs High School, Glenwood Springs Middle School, Glenwood Springs Elementary School, Yampah Mountain High School and St. Stephen’s School are offering a Fine Arts Celebration May 13-16.

An art show will be open to the public from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 13; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 14; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 15 in the GSHS auxiliary gymnasium.

Stout at CCC
The Carbondale Clay Center, 135 Main St., is presenting a show of resident technician Ben Stout’s work this month. According to Stout, he feels inspired by families and domestic life. He’s made his functional pieces with just that audience in mind.

See “organic” jewelry at SAW
The Studio for Arts + Works, 978 Euclid Ave. in Carbondale, is hosting a show by local jeweler Colby June Smith this month. Her current show is inspired by the native grasses of Colorado.

Student expo at CCAH
The Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities is hosting an exhibition of student art from all over the valley this month. CCAH is located at 645 Main St.
