Basalt HS free physicals today
Basalt High School will have free physicals available to athletes today in the school's gym. Students entering grades 10 through 12 are eligible.


RFHS free physicals on May 13
Roaring Fork High School will be giving free physicals to athletes on Tuesday at RFHS for the 2008-09 school year. Athletes must be current ninth-, 10th- or 11th-graders who plan on playing sports for the Rams next year.


Glenwood Springs free sports physicals on May 14
Glenwood Springs High School will have free physicals available to athletes at 7 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Medical Associates. All forms, which can be picked up in the athletic director's office, need to be filled out beforehand.


Fall registration open for Three Rivers Youth Football
Three Rivers Youth Football, a program for children in the third through sixth grade, is holding regional registration for its fall season on the following dates:

May 13-14, New Castle/Silt, at Riverside Middle School, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; May 14-15, Glenwood Springs, at Glenwood Springs Elementary School, 5-6:30 p.m.; May 14-15, Carbondale, at Crystal River Elementary school, 6-7 p.m.; May 14-15, Parachute, at Bea Underwood Elementary, 5-7 p.m.; May 14-15, Aspen (call Ron Morehead at 618-0354); May 19, Rifle, at Rifle Middle School, 5-7 p.m.; May 21-22, Basalt at Basalt Middle School, 5-7 p.m.

Powerlifting returns to Glenwood
Some strong competitors will be returning to Glenwood Springs for the second annual PowerPlay powerlifting meet on May 17.

These powerlifters travel from all around Colorado, as well as neighboring states. Though 70 percent of the competition come from outside Garfield County, several local residents are slated to compete as well.

Registration information for EAC PowerPlay is available at www.exclusiveathleticclub.com or at Exclusive Athletic Club in Glenwood Springs. The registration deadline for lifters is May 3. General admission tickets are available at the door. The cost is $7 at the door and $25 per family.

Volunteers needed for EAC PowerPlay
Exclusive Athletic Club is seeking volunteers for its May 17 PowerPlay powerlifting meet.

Volunteers earn a free T-shirt and free entry for him/her and two friends.

The following positions are needed: spotters/loaders, scoring announcer, scorekeeper/timekeeper, registration (8-11 a.m.), weigh-in help (female, 8-11 a.m.), ticket sales (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), warm-up room attendant(s), runner(s) and photographer. Unless otherwise specified, EAC needs one or more persons in each position from 8 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m.

University of Northern Colorado Satellite Volleyball Camp
UNC's coaches and players will be at Coal Ridge High School June 12-14 to put on a volleyball camp. The camp is open to seventh- through 12th-grade girls. The camp will consist of two intensive training sessions each day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Coal Ridge kids volleyball camp
The Coal Ridge volleyball staff and players will be hosting two kids camps this summer. Camp is open to all kids prekindergarten through eighth grade. The camps will be held June 17-19 and July 8-10 from 1-4 p.m. at Coal Ridge High School.

The cost is $40 for one session or $60 for both sessions. Preregister by June 13 by contacting Denise Greene at greene @sopris.net or 984-3813.
