Name: Dustin Harcourt

Age: 36

Residence: New Castle

Occupation: Fly fishing and hunting guide

Favorite outdoor activity second to fishing: Camping with family and snowboarding.

Favorite species to fish? Pike and all salt-water species.

Tastiest fish? Sushi, yellow tail, tuna, uni and eel.

When was the first time you went fishing, with whom and where did you go? Fly fishing with parents at the age of 3 on the South Platte.

Which do you prefer and why: bait or artificial flies and lures? Definitely artificial flies and lures. When a fish eats bait they generally swallow the bait and hook, killing most, intentionally or not.

Do you prefer "catch and release" or "keep for dinner"? Catch and release. We have an incredible fishery in our valley and in order to preserve that it is necessary to implement regulations. It's like having a great golf partner, if you eat them there will be no one to play with. I have been known to harvest a Northern Pike from Harvey Gap from time to time, but I release our precious trout.

Favorite spot to fish in Garfield County or Roaring Fork Valley? The Colorado River

Favorite place outside Garfield County and RFV? Mexico, and Christmas Island

Best fishing tale? I have taken an 11-year-old blind boy fly fishing and he was able to land 35 trout in one afternoon. The joy that experience brought him remains with me.

What would be the best fishing trip ever? Fishing with friends and family on a private island in the tropics.
