Eagle County enforce wildlife trash laws

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado — Code enforcement officers are issuing warnings to residents who are not protecting their trash against bears and other animals. Beginning May 31, officers will be giving out tickets.

The wildlife law, passed last year, says that by April 1 residents of West Vail, Eagle-Vail, Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, Edwards and other unincorporated parts of Eagle County must have a wildlife-proof Dumpster enclosure, a wildlife-resistant garbage container, or a wildlife-proof garbage container.

Garbage containers must have the street address and unit number on them, with digits no smaller than two inches in height. Approved containers may be purchased from Vail Honeywagon at (970)926-6333 or Waste Management at (970)926-3396.
