GLENWOOD SPRINGS, ColoradoPiano Prince makes a stop in Glenwood They dont give titles out like The Piano Prince of New Orleans for nothing. Just ask Davell Crawford.
Still in his 20s, the music phenom has released CDs and played all kind of places around the world. You can trace this success back to his Louisiana hometown, where his grandfather, James Sugarboy Crawford was an integral part of the R & B scene in the 50s. For Davell, this meant music was definitely part of his being. By the time he was 3, he had learned Mary Had a Little Lamb, Here comes the Bride and the theme to Sesame Street on the piano. By 5, he had given an impromptu performance outside the Café du Monde that left people cheering.
And, of course, that was just the very, very beginning.
To find out more about this member of jazz royalty, playing next at the Summer of Jazz, make sure to grab a copy of Wednesdays paper.
