Velma Lee Caveny died June 22, 2008, in Chaparral, N.M.
She was born Aug. 23, 1926, to Frances and Deyoe Green, and was raised on Rifle Creek along with her sisters and brothers. She graduated from Rifle High School in 1944.
Velma married Pete Smith on Oct. 16, 1946, and they had three children.
She married Ed Caveny Dec. 18, 1992.
Velma lived in many different places, recently in Grand Junction. She enjoyed reading, bowling, fishing, gardening and family gatherings. She moved to Chaparral, N.M., where she died.
Velma is survived by children and their families Carol (Jerry) Sewrook, Mike Smith, and Patricia (Charlie) Quintana; sisters Elizabeth Terrell of Grand Junction and Lillian Hill of New Castle; brothers Dick (Carol) Green of Wardville, Okla., and Vern (Lora) Green of Fort Sumner, N.M.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. July 10, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction. Following the services there will be a potluck dinner for friends and family at Pomona Park, 586 251Ú2 Road.
