Call for volunteers

The Carbondale Mountain Fair is signing up volunteers for the 2008 Carbondale Mountain Fair, held July 25-27.

People are needed to man the Green Team, Peace Patrol and Outer Limits (stomperillas, control the streets of Carbondale); help with numerous other Mountain Fair booths, stations and enterprises is needed as well. Volunteers who work four hours receive a Friend of Fair T-shirt.

Divorce class

Alpine Legal Services’ Do it Yourself Divorce Class will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the Garfield County Courthouse in Glenwood Springs. Attendees will be provided with all of the necessary documentation required to complete the divorce process along with the necessary information about how to manage the case start to finish.

A small donation of is requested for this service, but no one will be denied services for lack of ability to pay.

This clinic is supported by grants from Aspen Valley Community Foundation. For further information, please contact the Glenwood office at 945-8858.

Grant application process

The Western Colorado Community Foundation is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations whose activities benefit people living in Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray and Rio Blanco counties.

Grants will be made to nonprofit organizations focused on health and human services, education, arts and culture, civic projects, conservation or natural resources. Preference will be given to organizations where a grant of $500 to $1,000 will make a difference.
Proposal guidelines are available on the Western Colorado Community Foundation website at www.wc-cf.org. The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday, Aug. 15.

Silt Heyday parade

Kids of all ages are invited to join Silt’s Heyday Parade Saturday, Aug. 2. Decorate your bikes, wagons, and scooters and join in on the fun. The theme this year is “Through the Eyes of Children.” Parade entry forms are available at Silt’s Town Hall or contact Peggy Swank at 876-5861 and request a form to be e-mailed or mailed to you. Booth spaces still available.

County oil and gas office moving

The Garfield County Oil and Gas office will move to 0375 County Road 352, Building 2060, the new Garfield County Administration building at the Garfield County Airport in Rifle off Airport Road.

First Aid and CPR class

New Castle Recreation will be hosting an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR class from 8 a.m. 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the New Castle Community Center. Upon completion of this class, participants will receive certification for First Aid and CPR in adult children and infants. Registration is available online at www.newcastlecolorado.org or at the New Castle Community Center.
