Volleyball coaches needed

Area volleyball officials are in drastic need for help in the fall season. Persons interested in officiating high school or middle school volleyball from Vail to Aspen to Parachute, please contact Donna at dshrull@comcast.net or 970-433-0471.

No experience necessary, prospective officials will be trained.

Residential design survey

Get involved and help guide the development of these standards by completing a brief survey online at www.cogs.us. Surveys must be completed by July 31. All surveys
submitted by this date will be entered in a drawing for a gift certificate to City Market.

Parenting through divorce

A Parenting Through Divorce seminar will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, in Carbondale. The seminar is designed to equip parents with the skills to raise healthy, well-adjusted children despite the challenges of divorce. It is required to finalize divorces in many jurisdictions.

Yesterday’s Memories, Tomorrow’s Dreams

The Garfield County Fair will kick off Friday, Aug. 1, with a carnival, series of horse shows and pie and cookie baking contests; culminating Saturday, Aug. 9, with the Garfield County Fair Parade and a car show.

Most of the events take place at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, but some will occur at other venues in the town of Rifle. Events include a CPRA Rodeo, junior and senior rodeo event, community dance and movie nights, air show, concert featuring Night Ranger and Chris Cagle, and dozens of 4H, Future Farmers of America and Open Class exhibits and contests.

More support for YouthZone

Village Homes is sponsoring a champagne brunch fundraiser for YouthZone from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Village Homes models at Castle Valley Ranch.

Proceeds from donations will go to the 17th annual Kiss ‘n Squeal fundraiser for YouthZone. Raffle tickets may also be purchased to win prizes.

Ski patrol picnic

The Sunlight Volunteer Ski Patrol will hold its annual summer picnic from noon to 8 p.m. today, July 19, at Veltus Park. All are welcome. Bring refreshments and a dish to pass.
