Readers Say Thanks

Steve would have been touched

Thanks to the many people who contributed in so many ways to help celebrate the life of Steve Lundin. What an outpouring of love and generosity! We are truly lifted up by your thoughts and prayers. We know he would have been touched by the kind words, tickled by the jokes, and assured in the knowledge that he leaves his family in a multitude of fine, strong hands.

Lots of help with solar project

Just a quick note of thanks to all that made the CRMS Solar Farm Project and Dedication a landmark event for both Carbondale and the entire region (Aspen to Rifle and beyond).

Aspen Skiing Co. (Auden Schendler, Matt Jones and others) has once again stepped up, showing both vision and action when it comes to the issue of global warming and sustainability. CRMS (Joe White, Michael Kennedy), CORE (Gary Goodson) and Xcel Energy (Brad Meininger, Pam Newell) also contributed significantly. Joani Matranga and Randy Udall were instrumental in bringing this to the table in the first place.

As the owner/president of Sunsense Inc., I would also like to recognize the following people who were too numerous to mention at the dedication, but deserve a resounding thank-you. Their organization, hard work and passion for solar and renewable energy is certainly appreciated by me, and we hope by the people of the Roaring Fork Valley as well. The Sunsense installation and support crew included Jeff Lauckhart, Jes Sanderford, Kris Sutton, Steve Haines, Andy Lietz, Jen Hancewicz, Corey Shalanski, Isaac Ellis, Alex Damaso, Tim Hellickson, Roger Lauckhart, Jon Childs, William Steindler, Kurt Burkenmeier and Austin Lottimer. Partners in the project included Meridian Energy, Lyons Fencing, Mark's Backhoe, Pratt Electric, New West Concrete, Wagner Rents, Minor Storage, Lines In Space and Joede Schoerbien. If I have left out any individual or organization, my apologies.

But perhaps the greatest thanks would belong to the people of Carbondale. From the 80 percent who voted yes on Question 2F back in November 2006, to the additional 20 percent who we hope are proud of the town's commitment to renewable energy, to all the surrounding communities who are eagerly engaged in their own renewable energy projects, together we shine brightly on any map. Congratulations! We are all making a difference every day.
