Dr. Ben Robert Keller Jr. died July 18, at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, after a valiant struggle with cancer.

He was born July 9, 1936.

Dr. Keller was an obstetrician/gynecologist practicing in Arlington, Texas, from 1967 to 2001, with the exception of 1979-87, when he practiced in Glenwood Springs. Throughout his career, he delivered more than 3,000 babies and was named Arlington's Young Man of the Year for 1970.

Dr. Keller was active in the Texas Medical Association and had served as state treasurer for that organization. He helped form the Texas Medical Foundation, subsequently serving on the board, and remained a consultant on political issues for TMA after his retirement from medical practice.

An accomplished pianist and lover of music, Dr. Keller supported the Van Cliburn Foundation and the Fort Worth Symphony. He was a longtime golf and poker enthusiast, as many of his friends can attest.

Survivors include wife Anne I. Keller; daughters Gwenyth Wood of Dallas, Jennifer Keller of Bedford, Texas, and Amy Keller of Arlington; son Ben Robert Keller III of Fort Worth, Texas; stepdaughters Jill Henderson of Haslet, Texas, and Julie Hinds of Arlington; six grandchildren, a sister-in-law; two nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by son Destry Keller; and brother Bill Keller.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 3, at Rolling Hills Country Club, East Lamar Boulevard in Arlington.

Memorial gifts should be directed to the Arlington branch of A Wish with Wings (http://www.awishwithwings.org/) or VITAS Innovative Hospice Care (http:// www.vitascharityfund.org).
