Man jailed for assaulting hotel manager
RIFLE, Colorado — Rifle police arrested a 21-year-old man Thursday after he allegedly attacked a hotel manager after police escorted him out of a room at the business.
Officers responded to a motel at 701 Taughenbaugh Boulevard in Rifle on a report that a guest caused damage to a room, according to a Rifle police report. They stood by while the guests vacated the room.
But one of the people asked to leave the room later returned and assaulted the manager. Officers arrested James Large, 21, hometown unknown, for suspicion of harassment and trespassing. He was taken to the Garfield County Jail, according to the police report.
New grant provides scholarship opportunity for Colorado Mountain College students
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — Thanks to the Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation in Denver, prospective Colorado Mountain College students have the opportunity for a new scholarship program.
The foundation recently awarded $40,000 specifically to aid students who have demonstrated financial need enrolling at any one of the 11 CMC locations across north-central Colorado.
Scholarships are available starting for the fall 2008 semester with the CMC Foundation awarding 25 scholarships in varying amounts, determined by the student’s course load. Part-time students are eligible for up to $825 and full-time students for up to $1,125 per semester.
Applications are currently being accepted. The deadline for these scholarships is Sept. 1, with the award selection determined by September 30.
