MONTROSE, Colorado Rifles Alex Haynes turned in a monster round at Thursdays Montrose High School-hosted tournament at Cobble Creek Golf Course.
The Bear senior went 3 under on the front nine and 3 over on the back nine to card an even-par 71, which placed him second behind Montroses Pat Young in the individual standings. Young took the tournament with a 70.
He was smoking today, Rifle coach Deanna Forney said of Haynes. He was hitting the greens and making his putts.
Rifles Klayton Costanzo had a decent day as well for the Bears, putting up a score of 78. He was tailed by teammates Hogan Peterson (91), Hunter Finger (92) and Jacob Withee (94).
The host Indians won the tournament, combining on a team score of 222.
