Library card campaign

The Garfield County Library District is initiating a library card campaign as part of National Library Card Sign-up Month. All Garfield County is welcome to get cards. Stop by any Garfield County Branch Library to obtain a card. Be sure to bring a current photo ID and proof of local address such as a utility bill or lease agreement. You can also get a card online at www.garfieldlibraries.org by clicking on About Us.

If your card has been lost or stolen, we will replace it free during the month of September. Need more information? Call us at 625-4270.

Biz-opoly

Biz-Opoly is Glenwood Springs’ eighth business trade fair and will be held from 4–8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center .

The Biz-opoly early bird deadline is fast approaching. The deadline for early bird chamber member pricing, extended to members of the Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Rifle and Basalt chambers of commerce, is Aug. 31. Late registration is after Aug. 31.

Rental includes a banquet table and table cloth, website listing and logo as a participating business; mailing list of all attendees and booth vendors; and excellent exposure for your business.

Sign up early to host a 15-minute presentation.

Biz-Opoly is free for attendees. Learn about the latest products and services available in the Roaring Fork Valley. Enjoy door prizes, entertainment, beer, food from area restaurants and the chance to network with other professionals.

Sheepdog championships

The 22nd annual Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials takes place Sept. 3-7 in Meeker. Five days of sheepdog herding competition with a $20,000 purse.

Other activities include a daily craft fair and food booths, American Humane Association Rescue Rig, weekend pancake breakfasts … demos by top dog handlers, spinners, weavers, felters, fly-tiers and saddle-makers, a petting farm, sheepherder’s wagon, service/therapy dogs art contest and silent auction.
