Grand Valley faces familiar foe
PARACHUTE, Colorado Though no longer league mates, Grand Valley and Paonia have a history as rivals. So much so that Mike Johnson wont take the Eagles lightly tonight, even if his Cardinals dealt them a 40-14 loss in 1A Western Slope League play last year.
Its traditionally a war with those guys. Last year we thumped on them, but they have a new coach so well have to see what were up against, Johnson said after his now-2A team beat Denver Manual 61-8.
That new coach is Craig Cerise, and he has Paonia off to a 2-0 start. The Eagles followed up an Aug. 22 win over Dolores with a 30-13 drubbing of Cedaredge last week.
