PARACHUTE, Colorado - A Grand Junction man died after a truck accident near a drilling rig north of Parachute Saturday morning.
Garfield County Deputy Coroner Kristin Clifford said Michael Foraker, 51, died shortly before 11 a.m. at the scene of the accident. Foraker was driving a truck down from a drilling rig when he lost control around a curve on Wheeler Gulch Road and crashed, Clifford said.
Clifford said the truck belonged to Tri-State Trucking. The company is based in Vernal, Utah. It wasn't immediately clear which company operates the drilling rig. A message left at Tri-State Trucking wasn't returned Monday during office hours.
A news release from the Colorado State Patrol says Foraker lost control and traveled off the right side of the road. The truck rolled partially and traveled down a steep embankment and came to rest upside down.
The CSP said neither drugs or alcohol are being considered as factors in the accident.
Wheeler Gulch Road is about two miles from County Road 215, about five miles north of Parachute, the CSP said.
The vehicle was a flatbed truck that was carrying scrap pipes and beams.
