ASPEN, Colorado Coal Ridges Cheyln McCain led Garfield County runners at Saturdays Chris Severy Invitational cross-country races, finishing 19th in the girls race at Aspen.
Middle Parks Sam Berggren won, outpacing second-place Chiara Del Piccolo from Basalt and Crested Buttes Erin Kelly, who finished third.
Grand Valleys Eryn Paskett clocked the next-best time among runners from area schools, placing 30th.
In the boys race, the Cardinals Austin Germiller took 25th, five spots ahead of teammate Sam Whelan and 12 spots ahead of Coal Ridges DaNivin Murphy.
Overlands Roblet Muhudin won the boys race ahead of Durangos Rogan Brown and Fruitas Woody Seagren, who finished second and third, respectively.

Demon harriers make long haul to Englewood
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado The Glenwood Springs cross-country team had a good day at a 21-team meet at Englewood on Saturday.The boys were led by Ryan Buchanan who finished 14th with a time of 17:18 while Kellen Fockler came in 28th (17:47) and Brad Gepfert was 81st (19:15).
Leading the way for the Demon girls were Katrina Selsor, who finished 17th with a time of 20:42, Angie Shepherd (45th in 21:47) and Michelle Stripp (49th in 21:51).
