Sunlight Winter Sports Club

The Sunlight Winter Sports Club’s Freestyle Team is signing up kids to be on the team for the 2008-09 season. The team is for kids, ages 10 to 18, and need to have an advanced ski or snowboard level.

Members are required to become a United States Snowboard Association member and have to register with the Sunlight Winter Sports team. Registration costs $1,000 if registered before Dec. 1, $1,050 after Dec. 1. Registration includes coaching and competition fees that will be held at Snowmass. There will be three slopestyle and three boardercross events.

Practices will be every Saturday at Sunlight Mountain Resort with a mid-week training day for trampoline training in Rifle.

A registration night will be held at the Hotel Colorado from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 4 before the Teton Gravity film, Under the Influence. For more information or to register online visit, www.sunlightskiteam.org.

Aspen/Snowmass ski season scheduled to begin

The Aspen/Snowmass ski season is scheduled to open for first tracks on Thanksgiving, Nov. 27. Both Aspen Mountain and Snowmass have announced opening days on turkey day.

Aspen Winternational 2008

Not another ski bum movie

Sunlight Mountain Resort is hosting Teton Gravity Research movie Under the Influence will show at the Hotel Colorado on Dec. 4. Tickets are $15 and include a free lift ticket for opening weekend at Sunlight, on Dec. 5-7.

Sunlight Mountain Resort

Sunlight Mountain Resort is scheduled to open for the season on Dec. 5, with the Glenwood Springs Mall Opening Day Treasure Hunt: A mountain wide treasure hunt with clues posted on Sunlight’s Web site and in the Post Independent every Friday until the treasure is found.

The treasure will be a Sunlight season pass and $500.
