Scuba diving

Sign up for a beginning Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) scuba class, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7. Register at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.

Letters to Santa

Write a letter to Santa Claus and drop it off at the Snowmass Village Recreation Center, and it will be sent directly to the Santa’s mailbox at the North Pole. Please include your return address so Santa and Mrs. Claus can reply. The mailbox will be at the rec center until Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Landfill observes Thanksgiving

The West Garfield County Landfill will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, to observe Thanksgiving.

The landfill will reopen Saturday, Nov. 29.

Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Food donations

New Hopeful Heart, a nonprofit organization benefitting people in recovery from mental health issues, is taking food donations of nonperishables and canned goods for the less fortunate, and also for baskets that will be given away for the holidays. Please drop off donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at 1217 Howard Ave., behind the Garfield County Fairgrounds next to Rich’s Upholstery in Rifle.
