GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado The Colorado Mountain College Gallery at Ninth and Grand in Glenwood Springs will host a new one-man photography exhibit starting tonight with a reception for the photography.
Photography Jimmy Westlakes lifelong interest in astronomy is in his blood.
I was born an astronomer, Westlake said. My ancestry does trace back to Galileos family, so maybe thats why.
Westlake, whos an astronomy and physics professor at Colorado Mountain Colleges Alpine campus in Steamboat Springs, is the focus of Astrophotography, an exhibit featuring his celestial studies.
The reception is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Colorado Mountain College Gallery. The public is invited and the photographer will be in attendance.
Six of the images in the display have been chosen as the Picture of the Day on NASAs popular Astronomy Picture of the Day website. And his image of Halleys Comet has won several awards, including The Weather Channels Halleys Comet Photo Contest in 1986.
