GLENWOOD CANYON, Colorado A rock slide closed Interstate 70 in both directions at 1:15 a.m. this morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The slide occurred in Glenwood Canyon milepost 125 just west of the Hanging Lake Tunnels. West bound lanes were re-opened at 1:49 am. One east bound lane was re-opened at 2:15 am and all lanes were re-opened at 3:10 am. There were no vehicles involved in the slide and no injuries resulted from the slide or clean-up efforts.
As the temperatures get warmer during the day rocks are loosened from the steep sides along the interstate and can fall without any notice. Always watch for rocks in the roadway but especially this time of year.
